What to Expect During Physical Therapy
Trinity Health Michigan provides an outstanding physical therapy experience. You work one-on-one with skilled and experienced therapists. We explain your treatment plan and guide you through every step.
Care starts with an evaluation that assesses movement, muscle strength, weak spots and readiness for physical activity. Even if you are new to exercise, we help you feel comfortable and relaxed so that you have a good experience.
Some of our clinics have large therapy gyms and a spa-like environment. They feature various equipment, including barbells, dumbbells, and an anti-gravity treadmill. The treadmill helps people with lower extremity issues safely get back on their feet earlier in their recovery.
Specialized Physical Therapy Services
Our comprehensive approach includes special services, some of which are not widely available in the region. Therapists with additional training deliver care that targets specific issues and injuries.
Specialized physical therapy services are available in select clinic locations and include:
Balance Training
Balance training is for people with medical conditions that leave them feeling unsteady on their feet. These conditions include concussions, scoliosis, sports injuries, and certain neurological disorders. We use vestibular therapy, resistance training and Tai Chi to improve stability and confidence.
Hand Therapy
Our team includes certified hand therapists who treat a broad range of upper extremity issues. Services include custom splints that position the limb in a specific way to promote healing. We also help you gradually increase motion in injured or damaged areas to keep your recovery moving forward.
Orthopedic Rehabilitation
Physical therapy is often a part of orthopedic rehabilitation, a more intensive approach to severe injury or surgery recovery. In addition to physical therapy, you may also receive occupational therapy services. We may provide bedside care in the initial stages of healing and in outpatient clinics as you get better. Pelvic Floor Therapy
This treatment helps people overcome pelvic floor dysfunction. The pelvic floor is a muscle group in the pelvis that supports the bladder, bowel, uterus, and vagina.
With pelvic floor dysfunction, you may experience pain, weakness, or an inability to perform certain functions. Pelvic floor therapy helps strengthen the muscles and improve their ability to do their job. We deliver this therapy in private settings.
Sports Performance Services
Licensed athletic trainers help active people build strength, endurance, and sport-specific skills. You’ll learn how to optimize athletic performance and lower the risk of future injuries. You do not need to be an athlete to participate. Our services can help you develop the fitness necessary to maintain an active lifestyle. We also offer age-appropriate training programs for children.
