Our comprehensively-trained surgeons at Trinity Health Michigan use surgical bypass as a treatment method for peripheral artery disease (PAD).

What is Surgical Bypass?

Surgical bypass of the peripheral arteries is a procedure to reroute blood supply around a blocked artery. While our physicians most commonly perform this procedure on the lower legs, surgical bypass can also be done in the aorta, hip, thigh, arm and behind the knee to prevent serious complications, including amputation.

We also offers a non-surgical interventional method of unblocking arteries called peripheral vascular intervention. If our non-surgical methods are not suitable for the patient's blockage, your physician will pursue surgical bypass.
