Aortic Aneurysm Repair
At Trinity Health Michigan, our dedicated vascular surgeons repair thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms using minimally invasive or endovascular surgery, which results in less time spent in the hospital.
Last year, our vascular surgeons produced a zero 30-day rate for mortality, paraplegia and dialysis-dependent renal failure after repair of aortic aneurysms.
What is Aortic Aneurysm Repair?
Aortic aneurysm repair is a procedure to prevent an aneurysm in your aorta from rupturing. The largest artery in the body, the aorta supplies blood to major organs and almost always proves fatal if ruptured. Aneurysms can occur anywhere from the chest (thoracic) to the belly (abdominal).
Your physician will work with you to determine the best method for treating your aneurysm. Often the primary course of action is to monitor its growth and provide you with the resources for long-term management. If repair is necessary and the risk of rupture becomes too great, treatment options will be explored.
Thoracoabdominal Branch Endoprosthesis (TAMBE)
We’re proud to offer the latest innovation in vascular care: the Thoracoabdominal Branch Endoprosthesis (TAMBE). This groundbreaking implantable branch device empowers our vascular surgeons to provide effective, minimally invasive solutions for patients facing complex aneurysms.
What is TAMBE?
TAMBE is specifically designed to treat:
- Thoracoabdominal Aortic Aneurysms (TAAA): Life-threatening bulges in the aorta that extend from the chest to the abdomen.
- Pararenal Aortic Aneurysms (PAAA): Aneurysms located near the kidneys, often affecting patients at high surgical risk.
This advanced device allows for timely and precise aneurysm repair, offering new hope to patients who may not be candidates for traditional open surgery.

How Does TAMBE Work?
The procedure involves small incisions in the groin and arm, through which your vascular surgeon inserts the TAMBE device. Using advanced imaging technology, the surgeon guides the device through your arteries to its precise location. Once in place, TAMBE seals off the aneurysm, restoring normal blood flow through the device.
Who is a Candidate for TAMBE?
TAMBE is an ideal option for patients with TAAA or PAAA, particularly those at high surgical risk due to age, other health conditions, or the complexity of their aneurysm.
Why Choose TAMBE?
Our vascular surgeons are leaders in advanced aneurysm repair, combining cutting-edge technology like TAMBE with compassionate, patient-centered care. We’re committed to providing innovative solutions that improve outcomes and enhance quality of life.
If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with a thoracoabdominal or pararenal aortic aneurysm, TAMBE may be the right solution. Contact us today to learn more or schedule a consultation with our vascular specialists.
