It's a tight-knit group with a culture that I felt I would fit in with. It's also a smaller community hospital with lots of elective opportunities, and of course you can't beat West Michigan and Lake Michigan!

I enjoy spending time with wife and daughter, hikes with my dog, and watching the Wolverines on Saturday and Lions on Sunday

Why I chose this program/location for my training

Muskegon is where I was born and raised. I have a strong desire to provide healthcare for this patient population, and I want to help Muskegon become a stronger and healthier community. During my last two years of medical school, I was based in Muskegon for my clinical rotations. Not only were the residents and attendings friendly and supportive, but I received a lot of 1:1 training that I believe was invaluable to my education.

Plus, Muskegon has tons of state parks, hiking trails, breweries, and you can't beat the lakeshore!

Hobbies/what I do outside of work

Outside of work, I enjoy running, cycling, baking, hiking, camping, and playing with my two kitties and new German Shorthaired Pointer puppy!

Why I chose this program/location for my training

I chose the Fruitport Family Medicine Residency because I feel at home within their program. The attending physicians and residents are compassionate for delivering health care to the greater West Michigan population as well as being nurturing in their learning environment.

Being a West Michigan native, the residency has a strong sense of community and dedication for giving back to the area. From the staff in our clinic to the people we serve, I am proud to call this residency my home.

Hobbies/what I do outside of work

I enjoy going to the gym and outdoor activities, especially when given the chance to hike or backpack. I enjoy my golden retrievers and our walks together. Any pick-up sport I am willing to play. I also like to read, particularly Stephen King's work.

The kindness and warmness of the staff/attendings during my interview day, the OB emphasis and strong integration of OMM in the curriculum, and great opportunities for community outreach were things that drew me to the program. In addition, I've always wanted to live near the beach!

While visiting Trinity Health Muskegon I appreciated the family environment they cultivated in their program. The staff, residents, and attendings were super friendly, inviting, and easy to get along with. They made it feel like a great place to complete my training.

The supportive environment at Trinity Health Muskegon is truly what sets this program apart. Virtually everyone I met was warm, welcoming, and genuinely fun to be around. Beyond this, Muskegon offers a strong medical community with a wide array of practice settings and a diverse patient population – not to mention the beaches!

I am elated to be moving back to West Michigan, which is where I hope to practice long-term.

Muskegon's family medicine program was one of the friendliest programs that I spent time with as a student. All the residents and staff are kind and welcoming, and the faculty are excellent teachers. Furthermore, as a Grand Rapids native, Muskegon is close to home and family, which is very important to me.

I enjoy golfing, biking and playing yard games with my friends and family when the weather is warm. When it's cold out I like to take to the trails on my snowshoes, and then warm up by watching movies or playing board games with a nice glass of whiskey.

Why I chose this program/location for my training

Since being a base student at Mercy Health Muskegon, I’ve experienced to the fullest not only everything this hospital and community can provide, but also all that the Fruitport Family Medicine program has to offer: small program size for personalized training, clinical faculty with strong passion to teach, a solid foundation of osteopathic philosophy and principles that are driven with OMT opportunities in the community and clinic, procedural training opportunities, well organized didactic structure, vast amount of elective time to craft a program suitable to our career interests, and most importantly the amazing compassion and camaraderie between all the residents really makes the program a true family.

I am passionate about all things outdoors such as mountain biking, fishing, hiking, camping, bon fires, and watching sunsets. I am an avid golfer, enjoy being out on the water whether it's swimming, boating, or laying out on the beach, and am a very family oriented person! I also love traveling places any chance I get and have visited places like Peru, Cuba, and the Hawaiian islands just to name a few. I am a huge movie goer with my favorite being marvel, and enjoy listening to music especially pop hits.
