Didactics
Didactics are held every Wednesday afternoon. Each week a different subject is discussed in the form of journal articles, board-style questions, hands-on skills at our SIM lab, and guest lecturers

- Skills: OMT, family medicine procedures, obstetric skills, POCUS, etc.
Additional Learning Opportunities
- Continuity Delivery: Residents provide all prenatal care and assist in delivery of clinic newborns.
- Sports Medicine Sideline Care: Residents have the opportunity to provide sideline and acute medical care for USHL Lumberjacks and local high school football players. Care is supervised by our Sports Medicine trained clinic attending, Dr. Kyle Kutsche.
- OB Emphasis: Residents who are interested in obtaining additional OB experience have the opportunity to add an OB emphasis to their family medicine training. This option includes additional OB electives, completion of formal electronic fetal monitoring program certification, participation in shoulder dystocia/postpartum hemorrhage drills, and an opportunity for additional deliveries.
- Ultrasound Training and Access to EM Ultrasound Elective: Supervised by US fellowship-trained Emergency Medicine attending.
- WMOA: Community and statewide specialists present on various medical topics. This event occurs monthly and dinner is provided free of charge for attendees.
- SCS: Our program is part of Michigan State University’s Statewide Campus System. One day every month, we attend lectures/SIM labs either virtually or in-person along with several other participating residency programs from around the state.
- Multiple Local Fellowships: OMT, Geriatrics, Palliative/Hospice
Community Outreach Opportunities
- Library Outreach: Residents attend local library events that provide an opportunity for parents to ask medical questions in a relaxed setting.
- Sports Physicals: Residents visit local high schools and provide free sports physical exams to student athletes.
- OsteoScholars: Monthly meetings mentoring high school students who are interested in attending medical school.
