At Trinity Health Michigan, our certified echosonographers use sophisticated diagnostic equipment to get you an accurate diagnosis. Cardiologists and members of our respiratory care team work together to ensure you’re on the right treatment path.
We offer a range of noninvasive tests, including:
- Pulmonary function test (PFT), measures the capacity and volume of your lungs to see how well they’re functioning
- Electrocardiogram (EKG), shows the electrical activity of your heart
- Arterial blood gas (ABG), a blood test that measures the lungs’ ability to draw oxygen from your blood and get rid of carbon dioxide
- Cardiac stress test to see how your heart responds to exercise
- Pulse oximetry and pulse oximetry walks measures the level of oxygen in your blood
- Holter monitor observes your heart rate for up to 48 hours using a portable device
- Cardiac event monitor, evaluates your heart’s activity for up to 30 days and records any irregularities in your heartbeat

Our pulmonary rehab program features:
- Exercise: Your certified respiratory therapist will guide you through a combination of aerobic, stretching and strengthening exercises designed to improve your breathing capacity. We customize your exercises to make sure they are safe and effective.
- Education: We offer comprehensive asthma education, including how to use your inhaler and how to use a peak flow meter to see how well your asthma is controlled. You’ll receive tailored advice with specific steps you can take to improve your quality of life.
