Learn MoreBike Helmet Distribution
The Injury Prevention team distributes free bicycle and multi-sport helmets at bike rodeos to children in need. The goal is to educate families about the importance of using safety devices like these correctly and consistently. Correct fit and proper positioning are essential to ensuring the effectiveness of bike helmets and reducing injury.
When helmets are properly fitted and used consistently, studies show that the risk of head injury is reduced by as much as 85 percent and the risk of brain injury by as much as 88 percent.

Child Passenger Safety Consults for New Moms
Most childhood injuries are preventable with access to education and safety devices. In an effort to ensure our littlest patients are travelling safely, the Injury Prevention Program provides bedside child passenger safety education and consults for patients in Muskegon.
Low-Weight Car Seat Loaners
Most rear-facing car seats (including rear-facing only and convertible seats) provide appropriate protection for newborns. However, some infants weighing less than 5 lbs may need a rear-facing car seat designed specifically for use by smaller or premature babies, with smaller internal dimensions and minimum height and weight requirements.
We offer low weight car seats available to loan to families in need. This program services patients in the Muskegon area.
Car Seat Inspections
Installing a car seat for younger children and babies can be a challenge. We have trained Child Passenger Safety Technicians who can check to make sure your car seats are installed correctly and teach you how to use and install a car seat on your own. This service is offered to our patients in the Muskegon community.

Special Needs Car Seat Clinic
Traveling with your child may take extra planning if they have disabilities or behavioral challenges — especially if standard child safety seats do not meet the child’s positioning needs. At Trinity Health’s Special Needs Car Seat Clinic, therapists and certified child passenger safety technicians will determine which car seat best meets the child’s needs through evaluation and fit tests.

Store It Safe Muskegon
Store It Safe is a unique partnership of healthcare providers, firearm safety experts, and community organizations established to keep children safe from unintentional firearm deaths and teens safe from suicide by firearms. Young children are often curious and will touch anything, while teens are still learning to control impulses. The collaboration brings together organizations and individuals, with different viewpoints about firearms, to develop unified messaging, resources, and approaches to reduce unintentional gun injuries and deaths in children, and suicides by firearms in adolescents.
