Injury Prevention Programs for Adults

Trinity Health offers a variety of injury prevention programs for adults, including fall prevention and substance use disorders.

SBIRT

People with substance use disorders are at increased risk of traumatic injury. Screening, brief intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) is an evidence-based approach used at Trinity Health Muskegon to screen for substance use disorders and intervene appropriately.

National Drug Take Back

Dispose of your unwanted prescription and non-prescription medications safely and confidentially at our easy drop-off location. Pharmacists and nurses will be available for medication-related questions. National Drug Take Back events are held twice a year in Grand Rapids and Muskegon.

Matter of Balance

A Matter of Balance is a program specifically designed to reduce the fear of falling, stop the falling cycle and increase activity levels among community-dwelling older adults. Classes are offered in Grand Rapids and Muskegon throughout the year.

No Falls Day

Trinity Health promotes and participates in No Falls Day, an annual awareness campaign about how to prevent fall-related injuries among older adults. Local, state and national partners collaborate to educate others about the impact of falls, share fall prevention strategies and advocate for the expansion of evidence-based community fall prevention programs. This program is offered in Grand Rapids and Muskegon.

CarFit

CarFit is an educational program that offers older adults the opportunity to check how well their personal vehicles "fit" them. It also provides information and materials on community-specific resources that could enhance their safety as drivers, and/or increase their mobility in the Muskegon community.

Stop the Bleed

Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and a call to action. This class trains, equips and empowers community members help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. Classes are offered year-round in both Grand Rapids and Muskegon.
