Prevention and Wellness at Trinity Health Michigan

We’ve designed our prevention and wellness services with you in mind. Every class, information session, support group and screening focuses on improving the health and well-being of our patients and strengthening our community.

Our services include:

Preventive screenings

We offer affordable, convenient, noninvasive screenings to detect conditions before you even have symptoms. Our Vascular Fit and Heart Fit screenings check for peripheral artery disease (PAD), carotid artery disease, abdominal aortic aneurysm, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. When we find signs of these conditions early, we can offer the most effective treatment plans.

Lipid management workshops

To help you reduce your risk of heart disease, we designed this interactive program. You’ll receive one-on-one nutrition counseling and an individualized health plan based on your unique lipid profile. Lipids are fats (cholesterol and triglycerides) that are found in the blood.

Your customized plan may include medication, lifestyle changes and heart-healthy recipes. We monitor your health with regular checkups, and we’re always available to answer your questions.

Customized classes

Our Prevention and Wellness team offers free education sessions. Our heart experts provide detailed information about topics such as:

  • Nutrition and exercise
  • Quitting smoking
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Heart failure
  • AFib
  • Living with pacemakers and implanted cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs)

Community outreach

We’re committed to strengthening our community through outreach, awareness and education. Our nurses, cardiologists and heart surgeons are available to speak about heart health at a variety of community events. Choose from more than a dozen topics, including women and heart disease, stress management and how to reduce your risk of stroke.

To educate the younger members of our community, we offer Healthy Hearts 101, an interactive field trip for 5th and 6th graders. In this popular hands-on program, students learn about the anatomy of the heart and lungs and see the effects of smoking and heart disease. Cardiovascular nurses and doctors lead the class and explain the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.

Health and wellness counseling

Our commitment to your health extends beyond innovative treatments and the latest advances in cardiovascular care. If you’re dealing with a diagnosis or just need to talk, our experienced social workers are available for private counseling sessions. We can also offer advice on nutrition, exercise, stress reduction and mind/body wellness.

Support groups

Sharing your experience with others can help you feel connected and encouraged. We offer a range of free support groups for patients, family members, loved ones and caregivers.

We discuss how heart and vascular conditions can affect relationships, family dynamics, communication and intimacy while offering advice on how to overcome challenges. Learn more about our support programs.

New groups form regularly. Support groups include:

  • Heart to Heart: We offer this popular support group for people with cardiovascular disease to share their experiences and connect with others.

  • Partners at Heart: This program enables spouses and partners of people with cardiovascular disease to come together in a welcoming environment.

  • Heart Failure Support Group: Patients and family members can discuss heart failure and share advice and encouragement.

  • Atrial Fibrillation Support Group: This program is designed for people with AFib and other heart rhythm disorders. An electrophysiologist (EP) nurse leads discussions and provides educational information.

Cardiac Rehab and Intensive Cardiac Rehab (ICR)

As you adopt healthier habits, our groundbreaking cardiac rehab programs help you play an active role in your well-being. We incorporate mindfulness, stress management, exercise and nutrition into our holistic program. Learn more about cardiac rehab and ICR.
