Specialized Cardiovascular Programs and Clinics

A woman and her grandmother stroll happily through a park

Chronic heart and vascular conditions often require ongoing care, but they don’t have to get in the way of your happiness. Trinity Health Michigan gives you a helping hand so you can feel your best. We offer specialized cardiovascular programs and clinics that optimize treatment outcomes and help you adopt healthy habits.

Anticoagulation (Blood Thinner) Clinic

This clinic is for people with conditions such as arrhythmias and deep vein thrombosis that require long-term blood thinner therapy.

Our team, which includes pharmacists and other heart experts, monitors your treatment progress by:

  • Running blood tests to make sure the body’s clotting abilities are not too weak or too strong
  • Assessing side effects, such as abdominal pain and bleeding easily, and their impact on daily life
  • Adjusting the anticoagulant type or dose to meet your changing needs

Congestive Heart Failure Clinic

Congestive heart failure is a severe condition in which your heart can no longer meet the body’s oxygen demands. You may feel sick, tire easily and experience flare-ups that require immediate care. The congestive heart failure clinic at Trinity Health Michigan helps you feel your best and spend less time in the hospital.

Our team of heart experts provides ongoing care to reduce flare-ups. We give you the knowledge and confidence to take good care of yourself. If you need hospital care, we help coordinate the appropriate services so that you can focus on feeling better.

Device Clinic

If you have an implantable arrhythmia device, continuous heart monitoring doesn’t have to mean frequent clinic visits. We use sophisticated devices that regularly send data directly to our experts.

If we detect troublesome symptoms, we reach out to you right away so that you can get the care you need. Periodically, you see nurses in our device clinic regardless of symptom activity. We review your recent arrhythmia history and adjust treatments to meet your needs. This may include changing device settings or your medications.

Additional Programs for Cardiovascular Disease

Additional Trinity Health Michigan cardiovascular disease programs include:

Prevention and Wellness Services

Trinity Health Michigan offers cardiovascular disease classes, information sessions and support groups that improve well-being and peace of mind. You also have access to affordable health screenings that detect heart and vascular conditions, like high cholesterol, before you experience symptoms.

We provide comprehensive cardiovascular prevention and wellness services, including nutrition counseling and personalized health plans. If you need to make lifestyle changes, we offer you support through education sessions on various topics, including smoking cessation.

Cardiac Rehabilitation (Rehab)

Cardiac rehabilitation restores your strength and helps you move forward with your life after certain heart procedures or hospitalizations. Rehab involves a medically supervised exercise program and the encouragement you need to adopt healthier habits for life.

We use a personalized approach that helps you meet your recovery goals and feel your best.

Offerings vary by location and include:

  • Traditional cardiac rehab: This option consists of 36 supervised exercise sessions.

  • Pritikin intensive cardiac rehab (ICR): You undergo 36 exercise sessions plus 36 education sessions on topics such as nutrition and wellness. We were the first program in Michigan to adopt the Pritikin ICR program.

Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation

Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation is for people with advanced lung and heart diseases. You may benefit from rehab if asthma, emphysema and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) affect your daily life.

Trusted respiratory therapists guide you through exercises that improve your breathing capacity. We customize your rehabilitation plan to make sure it’s safe and effective. Services also include education about lung disease treatments and support for adopting healthy habits.
