My practice integrates behavioral health and internal medicine and my professional interests include treatment-resistant schizophrenia and depression, substance use disorders, and management of acute agitation. My current research interests are to examine the use of ketamine for acute agitation in patients with known psychotic disorders and evaluate the use of benzodiazpine-sparing treatments for acute alcohol withdrwal.

I also enjoy teaching and am an adjunct instructor at FSU College of Pharmacy where I teach psychiatric pharmacotherapy.

My practice involves oversite over our ambulatory care team composed of pharmacists, interns and technicians. This includes recruitment and training, design of our clinical model and oversite of performance. In addition to this role, I serve the medical group as an educator, policy owner, formulary manager and medication safety specialist.

My interests include research and development in ambulatory care with a focus on medication safety, public health and underserved populations.

Why I chose to practice in Grand Rapids

I love practicing at Trinity Health Grand Rapids because I believe in our mission-driven work and feel that those values are evident in all our coworkers. Our pharmacy team supports one another and strive to do what is best for the patients we serve.

I also love the Grand Rapids area - it really does have everything you might want to do (concert venues, breweries, museums, etc.) while still being only 30 minutes from Lake Michigan.

Hobbies/interests outside of work

I spend most of my time with my husband, daughter, and two sweet dogs. I love travel, reading, cooking, camping, gardening, and home design.

The provider team at THGR is extremely receptive to pharmacist collaboration. I enjoy working closely with my team to provide the best care possible for critically ill patients. I also enjoy the ability to precept both PGY1 and PGY2 residents within the ICU space.

While most of my time is spent on a general internal medicine unit and staffing in the inpatient pharmacy, my particular areas of interest include anticoagulation management and antimicrobial stewardship. In 2017, I pubished an article in the Neurohospitalist journal evaluating emergency medicine pharmacists' impact on time to treatment with tPA in patients presenting with acute ischemic stroke.

I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to precept residents during the first month of residency and love the people that I get to work with here at Mercy Health Saint Mary's.

Why I chose to practice in Grand Rapids

Completing a residency in a smaller community hospital in Sandusky, Ohio deepened my desire for working in smaller size facilities as I believe building relationships with providers, nurses, case managers, and many others included in the healthcare team is what makes the largest positive impact on patient care.

Trinity Health Grand Rapids is progressing the field of pharmacy and values the pharmacist on the healthcare team, and I love being a part of and investing into this culture.

Why I chose to practice in Grand Rapids

Born and raised in Grand Rapids, I wanted to give back to my community. I really enjoy working with residents, fellow pharmacists and other healthcare professionals, and have appreciated the multidisciplinary nature and culture of the teams at Trinity Health Michigan.

I'm an avid traveler and love being outside, whether it's hiking, rock climbing, snorkeling, canyoneering or ziplining. I'm also fond of cooking and submerging otherwise healthy foods into my deep fryer.

I have a passion for antimicrobial stewardship in the emergency department, as well as clinical interests in cardiology and toxicology. My research involvement has included antimicrobial stewardship and sedation management in the emergency department.
