Breast Surgery
Tara Breslin, MDA board-certified surgeon who focuses on breast surgical oncology. Dr. Breslin earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where she also completed her residency in general surgery. She went on to complete a fellowship in surgical oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center also located in Houston. In practice for over 16 years, Dr. Breslin’s clinical expertise revolves around the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant breast disease and the master board-certified evaluation of women at increased risk for breast cancer. She also utilizes a variety of advanced surgical techniques in both the treatment and reconstruction of the breast for oncology patients. Dr. Breslin serves as Director of the Trinity Health Hospital Breast Program. |

Marisa O’Neill, DOBoard-certified in general surgery. Dr. O'Neill also has clinical interests in benign breast conditions, treatment of pre‐cancerous conditions, early‐stage breast cancer and locally advanced disease, oncoplastic breast surgery, individualized care, and shared decision-making. |
Colon and Rectal Surgery
Melissa I. Chang, MDMelissa I. Chang, MD, is a double board-certified surgeon in general and colon and rectal surgery. She received her undergraduate and master's degrees from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, and completed her medical degree at Tufts University in Boston, MA. Dr. Chang completed her General Surgery residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, NY and her Colon and Rectal Surgery fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Dr. Chang has clinical interests in minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic approaches for colon and rectal cancer, benign diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis, and pelvic floor disorders. Dr. Chang also specializes in the workup and treatment of fecal incontinence, diarrhea, and anorectal disease including abscesses, fistulas, and hemorrhoids. |

Robert K. Cleary, MDA board-certified general and colon and rectal surgeon. He earned his medical degree at Wayne State University. He then completed his general surgery residency at Trinity Health Ann Arbor and subsequently his colon and rectal surgery fellowship at Texas Southwestern Medical School. He has clinical interests in colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, anorectal disease, and minimally invasive surgery, including laparoscopic and robotic techniques. He is the board-certified board-certified program board-certified board-certified Director for the Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship program at Trinity Health Ann Arbor. |

John C. Eggenberger, MDA board-certified general and colon and rectal surgeon. He earned his medical degree and completed his general surgery residency at the University of Michigan. He then completed a colon and rectal surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Eggenberger has clinical interests in colon and rectal cancer, complex anorectal disease, endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, and complicated diverticular disease. Dr. Eggenberger is the Chair of Surgery at Trinity Health Ann Arbor and has practiced in southeastern Michigan for over 25 years. He serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Toledo and Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. |

Amanda M. McClure, MDA board-certified general and colon and rectal surgeon. She earned her medical degree and completed her general surgery residency at Michigan State University. She then completed her colon and rectal surgery fellowship at the Colon and Rectal Clinic of Orlando. She Dr. McClure specializes in robotic and laparoscopic surgery, as well as minimally invasive transanal procedures. She has clinical interests in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer. Dr. McClure specializes in treating diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease and anorectal disorders including hemorrhoids, fissures, abscesses and fistulas. She performs specialized testing and treatment for pelvic floor disorders, including constipation and fecal incontinence. |

Beth-Ann Shanker, MDA board-certified general and colon and rectal surgeon. She earned her medical degree at the University of Rochester. She then completed her general surgery residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She subsequently completed her colon and rectal surgery fellowship at the Colon and Rectal Clinic of Orlando. Dr. Shanker has clinical interests in robotic surgery and minimally invasive techniques, colon and rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, pelvic floor disorders, fecal incontinence, and anorectal disorders. |

Justin L. Chamberlain, MDJustin Chamberlain, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon. He has clinical interests in the reconstruction of abdominal wall defects, minimally invasive hernia repairs and robotic-assisted cholecystectomy. |

Christina L. Harsant, MDA board-certified general surgeon who earned her medical degree from Michigan State University and completed her general surgery residency at Trinity Health Ann Arbor. Dr. Harsant specializes in minimally invasive hernia repair, antireflux operations, and surgery for benign and malignant diseases of the esophagus and stomach (foregut). She also has extensive collaborative experience working with the thoracic surgery team on complex foregut cases. Dr. Harsant performs robotic surgery, including da Vinci assisted single site gall bladder removal (cholecystectomy) and hernia repair. Dr. Harsant is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society board-certified. She is a faculty Fellow of the Trinity Health Ann Arbor general surgery residency program and a clinical faculty member for the University of Toledo Medical School and the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. |

David G. Heidt, MDBoard-certified in both general surgery and surgical critical care and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Heidt earned his medical degree at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He then completed his general surgery residency, a surgical critical care fellowship, and an abdominal transplantation fellowship all at the University of Michigan. Dr. Heidt joined the faculty at Trinity Health Ann Arbor in 2018, after serving as the Division Chief of General Surgery, the Director of Surgery Clerkship, the Associate Residency Program Director, and the Director of the Interactive Simulation Center at the University of Toledo. Beyond his clinical interest in hepatopancreatic biliary and foregut oncologic surgery, has an ongoing interest in improving the clinical education of residents. He runs the Academic Surgery Program (ASP) Clinic, a resident-run clinic that has grown to see over 1,000 patients annually and provides board-certified board-certified board-certified residents with a rich longitudinal outpatient experience. Dr. Heidt is currently the Program Director of the General Surgery Residency. |

Beth C. Kimball, MDA board-certified general surgeon. Dr. Kimball has nearly 20 years of experience and specializes in thyroid, parathyroid and breast surgery. She earned her medical degree at the University of Chicago. She then completed her general surgery residency at the University of Michigan. She is a member of the Center for Breast Health – Ann Arbor and has been a faculty member of the Trinity Health Ann Arbor general surgery residency program since 1997. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. She coordinates the weekly Multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Conference for Trinity Health Ann Arbor. |

Edward D. Kreske, MDA board-certified general surgeon. Dr. Kreske earned his medical degree from Michigan State University and completed his general surgery residency at Trinity Health Ann Arbor. Additionally, he completed a hepatobiliary surgery and liver transplantation fellowship at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. Dr. Kreske has clinical interests in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has been a faculty member of the Trinity Health Ann Arbor. |
Trauma and Critical Care
William J. Curtiss, MDBoard-certified in both general surgery and surgical critical care. Dr. Curtiss earned his medical degree at Wayne State University. He then completed his general surgery residency at Providence Hospital. He subsequently completed his surgical critical care fellowship at Spectrum Health. Dr. Curtiss joined our team in 2020. |

Roy Golden, MDBoard-certified in both general surgery and surgical critical care. Dr. Golden earned his medical degree at CUNY School of Medicine. He then completed his general surgery residency and a surgical critical care fellowship at the Detroit Medical Center. Dr. Golden joined the faculty at Trinity Health Ann Arbor in 2019. |

Laszlo Marco Hoesel, MDBoard-certified in both general surgery and surgical critical care. Dr. Hoesel earned his medical degree at Justus-Liebig University Medical School, Giessen, Germany. He then completed his general surgery residency at Trinity Health Ann Arbor, a trauma surgery fellowship at Emory University, and a surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Michigan. Dr. Hoesel joined the faculty at St. Joe's Ann Arbor in 2018. |

Roger Ramcharan, MDBoard-certified in both general surgery and surgical critical care. He received his medical education from the University of the West Indies, Trinidad and completed his residency at both The Oxford Education Deanery and Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital. He also received his Doctor of Philosophy in Oncology, Oxford University and completed a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital. She then completed her general surgery residency at Beaumont Hospital and subsequently her surgical critical care fellowship at the University of California. Dr. Sharp joined our team in 2020 and is currently the Associate Program Director for the General Surgery Residency. |
Vascular Surgery

She has clinical interests in open and endovascular treatment of aortic aneurysms, complex aneurysmal disease, aortic dissections, carotid artery disease, peripheral arterial disease, mesenteric and renal artery disease, thoracic outlet syndrome, hemodialysis access and venous disease. |

Michael J. Heidenreich, MDBoard-certified in both general surgery and vascular surgery. Dr. Heidenreich earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh. He then completed his general surgery residency at the University of North Carolina and vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Maryland. He has clinical interests in surgical and endovascular treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms, carotid occlusive disease, lower extremity occlusive disease, and hemodialysis access. He is a faculty member of the Trinity Health Ann Arbor general surgery residency program. |

He then completed his general surgery residency at the University of Louisville and a vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Utah. He has clinical interests in endovascular treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms, as well as lower extremity, renal and visceral occlusive disease. He is a faculty member of the Trinity Health Ann Arbor general surgery residency program. |

Hue C. Thai, MDHue C. Thai, MD, is board-certified in vascular surgery and general surgery. He earned his medical degree at the University of Washington. He then completed his general surgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic and a vascular surgery fellowship at Wayne State University. Dr. Thai has clinical interests in the vascular and endovascular treatment of peripheral arterial disease and limb salvage, carotid disease, aortoiliac aneurysms, renal and mesenteric disease, venous disease and dialysis access. He is an Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Thai is fluent in Vietnamese. |
