My most recent favorite local beer was a Strawberry-Banana-Marshmallow Lactose sour from Homes Brewery which tasted like a slightly carbonated Naked Smoothie.

Cairl, MD Hometown: Toledo, OH Undergraduate: University of Dayton Graduate: University of Toledo Medical School: The University of Toledo Career Goals: Trauma/MIS/Bariatrics/Colorectal About Me: Originally from the big city of Toledo just trying to make my way in the small town of Ann Arbor. Dad to one cat (Theo) and 61 plants which I've surprisingly been able to (mostly) keep alive during residency. My biggest pet peeve is black slacks with brown shoes. In my free time you'll find me exploring the distilleries and breweries or tubing on the river.

	Evan J. Gorgas, MD Hometown: Ortonville, MI Graduate: Kalamazoo College Medical School: Michigan State University Career Goals: Trauma/Acute Care Surgery About Me: I am a true Michigander born-and-raised. I've lived in SE Michigan, Kalamazoo,Grand Rapids, Traverse City, Alpena, and have family at both ends of the Upper Peninsula. Throughout high school and college I was a competitive swimmer and swim coach. To this day I try to get in the water 3-4 times per week. My quarantine hobby was baking. Otherwise, I enjoy reading and Netflix binging. I hope to someday serve the communities of Northern MI and get involved in teaching medical students/residents.
	Patrick J. Kato, MD Hometown: Novi, MI Undergraduate: Michigan State University Medical School: Wayne State University Career Goals: Endocrine, Plastic Surgery, or Colorectal Surgery About Me: As a Michigan native, I am excited to begin my surgery training close to home. Even as a proud Michigan State alumnus, I am looking forward to experiencing and exploring the city of Ann Arbor. During my spare time, I enjoy cooking, trying new foods, and exercising. I also enjoy the thrill of sporting events and partaking in spontaneous adventures.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy running, painting, and exploring new restaurants and cocktail bars. And of course, Notre Dame football is my favorite time of the year - Go Irish!
	Michael J. Pryor, MD Hometown: Grand Rapids, MI Undergraduate: Calvin University Medical School: Michigan State University Career Goals: Trauma Critical Care or MIS About Me: I was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI. I married my high school crush Rachel who also works at Trinity Health as a NICU nurse. We have a daughter Claire, a son Jordan, and two black labs, Gus and Mack. I spend most of my free time being a dad, enjoying a good bourbon, watching Packer football, hunting, and fishing when I can.
	Isaac D. Schmied, MD Hometown: Wichita, KS Undergraduate: Augustana College Medical School: University of Kansas Career Goals: Global Surgery/Colorectal Surgery About Me: I grew up in Kansas, went to undergrad in Illinois, then returned to my hometown in Kansas for medical school. For hobbies during residency, I have enjoyed spending time with my wife, roasting coffee beans, gardening, and caring for our two dogs and quarter horse.

Baur, MD Hometown: Ann Arbor, MI Undergraduate: University of Michigan Medical School: Loyola University Career Goals: Colorectal surgery, global surgery About Me: I was born in Michigan and lived in the Ann Arbor area until the age of 12, when I moved overseas with my family. I spent middle school and high school in Asia and moved back to the United States for college. My wife is also a doctor, and we have two adorable cats. In my free time I love hiking, backpacking, playing guitar, watching rugby, and reading books.
	Alyssa Beach, MD Hometown: Cypress, TX Undergraduate: Texas A&M University Medical School: Texas Tech University Career Goals: Trauma/Acute Care Surgery About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and I enjoy reading, cross-stitch, cooking, and watching movies. I hope to return to Texas after my residency with plans to complete a critical care fellowship.
	Sarah E. Benson, MD Hometown: Van Buren, OH Undergraduate: Hillsdale College Medical School: The University of Toledo Career Goals: Rural General Surgery / Colorectal Surgery About Me: I’m a proud buckeye living and working in the enemy wolverine territory. In undergrad, I studied biochemistry and ran collegiately for the Hillsdale College Chargers. I returned to Ohio for medical school with hopes to move back north to Michigan for residency. Outside the hospital, I’m most likely to be found enjoying summer weekends “Up North” MI, hobby-jogging, crocheting baby blankets, and drinking coffee. I hope to someday serve a smalltown community in Michigan as a general surgeon and as a coffee shop owner.

Peracha, MD Hometown: Monroe, MI Undergraduate: University of Michigan Graduate: Wayne State University Medical School: Wayne State University Career Goals: Trauma/Critical Care About Me: I was born in Karachi, Pakistan but I've called SE Michigan home since the age of 2. I enjoy canoeing, painting with my little sister, finding interesting books to read but never reading them, and drinking vast amounts of coffee. I am forever an aspiring morning person.
	Prathusha Yerramilli, MD Hometown: Falmouth, ME Undergraduate: University of Michigan Medical School: Tufts University Career Goals: I’ve got 5 years to figure that out! About Me: I was born in Ann Arbor but moved to Maine when I was a year old. I came back to the Midwest for college at U of M (Forever Go Blue!!!!) and bounced back to New England for medical school at Tufts. I’m very excited to spend the next 5 years of surgical training here in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti! When I’m not in the hospital, you can find me outdoors as much as possible—my happiness is directly related to the density of trees around me, and I often procrastinate life duties by walking way too many miles.

I have way too many hobbies but in my free time, I like traveling, cooking, baking, hunting, and skiing, just to name a few!
