PET-CT
A PET-CT scan combines:
- PET nuclear medicine test to detect changes in cell metabolism
- CT imaging to pinpoint the exact location of an abnormality
Using PET-CT, our specialists diagnose and monitor diseases such as cancer, heart disease and brain disorders. Advantages of this test include:
- Shows detailed images that minimize the need for invasive biopsies
- Diagnoses diseases like cancer at an earlier stage
- Detects spread of tumors to distant organs
- Provides information about the exact location of conditions or tumors before surgery
- Shows progress of cancer treatment
This test requires your blood sugar to be below 200 at the time of the test. If you have diabetes, talk with your provider about how to safely lower your blood sugar before your exam.
