Specialty Conditions
Our specialty pharmacy services provide medication for a variety of conditions, including:
Bone Health
Osteoporosis is a condition that leads to weakness in the bones due to decreased density of the bone. The weakness ultimately leads to an increased risk of bone fractures that can occur under circumstances that wouldn’t normally result in a broken bone. Osteoporosis is a condition that occurs more commonly as people age and is seen more frequently in women than men.
Endocrine Disorders
The endocrine system of the human body plays an important part in growth, metabolism, sexual development and function, as well as other areas. Generally, the endocrine system refers to hormones that are chemicals the body secretes into the blood. The hormones can then travel to various parts of the body where they have their intended effects. Endocrine disorders develop when there are problems related to the production, secretion, or function of these hormones.
Chronic Inflammatory Conditions
Inflammation refers to your body's process of fighting against things that harm it, such as infections, injuries and toxins, in an attempt to heal itself. When something damages your cells, your body releases chemicals that trigger a response from your immune system.
Chronic inflammation happens when this response lingers, leaving your body in a constant state of alert. Over time, chronic inflammation may have a negative impact on your tissues and organs.
Hepatitis C
The Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a contagious blood borne viral infection that attacks the liver. HCV can present as an acute infection or as a chronic infection. An acute HCV infection is a short-term illness that typically occurs during the first six months after becoming infected. A chronic HCV infection is a long-term illness, where the HCV virus continues to attack the liver and can result in serious liver problems.
High Cholesterol/Hyperlipidemia
Cholesterol is a type of fat that is both produced by the body and absorbed from food. Everyone needs a certain amount of cholesterol to be healthy. When the amount of cholesterol in the bloodstream is too high, a condition called hyperlipidemia results.
People with high cholesterol have a higher risk of heart attacks, strokes and other health problems. The higher your cholesterol, the higher risk of these problems.
HIV/AIDS
HIV infection is a condition that can gradually destroy the immune system, which makes it harder for the body to fight infections. When this happens, the person has AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome).
Migraine Headache
Migraine headaches or "migraines" are a kind of headache that can happen in adults and children. A migraine can cause severe throbbing pain or a pulsing sensation, usually on just one side of the head. It's often accompanied by nausea, vomiting and extreme sensitivity to light and sound.
Migraine attacks can cause significant pain for hours to days and can be so severe that the pain is disabling.
Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a disease that makes your bones weak. People with the disease can break their bones too easily. For instance, people with osteoporosis sometimes break a bone after falling down at home.
Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis (MS) occurs when an abnormal immune response results in damage to nerves in the brain or spinal cord. The damage can result in a wide variety of neurologic symptoms including but not limited to weakness, fatigue, poor coordination, visual problems, numbness and others. Treatment for MS focuses on modifying this immune response to prevent further damage.
Pulmonary
The term pulmonary refers to conditions that affect the lungs. Asthma is a common pulmonary condition that involves inflammation of the airways which narrows them and trigger the production of increased mucus in the airways. The result is symptoms such as wheezing or difficulty breathing. Another example of a pulmonary condition would be pulmonary fibrosis which occurs when there is damage to the lung tissue that causes scarring. This may lead to shortness of breath and coughing.
