Program Details

Our program is one of the oldest Diagnostic Radiology residency programs in Michigan, established in 1966.

  • We accept 3 residents per academic year
  • Approved for a total of 4 ESIR positions (1 per class)
  • We train at four hospitals:
    • Trinity Health Oakland Hospital
    • Children's Hospital of Michigan
    • Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital (as part of the ESIR pathway)
    • Trinity Health Livonia Hospital (as part of the ESIR pathway and for MRI-guided breast biopsy experience)

Our main facility, Trinity Health Oakland, is a 497-bed, Level 2 trauma center situated in the heart of busy Oakland County, with upwards of 200,000 radiographic studies annually. Trinity Health Oakland is the first certified primary stroke center in Michigan. Across the Trinity Health Southeast Michigan facilities, our residents have access to upwards of 1 million radiologic studies for interpretation, education, and scholarly activity.

Our department is staffed by Huron Valley Radiology, a 50+ physician sub-specialty-focused private practice radiology group.

State-of-the-art equipment in the radiology department at Trinity Health Oakland includes the following:

  • Computed tomography
    • Toshiba Aquilion ONE GENESIS (320-slice, 78 cm bore).
    • Siemens SOMATOM Definition AS+ (64-slice, 80 cm bore).
    • Dedicated Vitrea workstation for 3-D processing.
  • Magnetic resonance imaging
    • Siemens Skyra (3T, 70 cm bore).
    • Siemens Aera (1.5T, 70 cm bore).
  • Ultrasound
    • Philips iU22 xMATRIX
  • Fluoroscopy
    • Toshiba EPS Plus digital imaging.
    • GE Advantx Legacy digital R/F room.
  • Angiography
    • Toshiba Infinix-i Biplane C-arm.
  • Nuclear Medicine
    • Five suites with multi-head planar and SPECT capability.
    • SPECT/CT.
    • Portable PET-CT unit provided by Shared PET Services.
  • Mammography
    • Digital Hologic systems(including tomosynthesis).
    • R2 Computer-aided detection suite.

AAD

  • High End Workstations:
    • Coronis fusion 6MP PACS display with two additional high-resolution 3MP monitors for dictation, references and accessing medical records.
    • Speech-to-text dictation software (Nuance PowerScribe 360)
    • Fully integrated electronic medical record system (EPIC)
    • GE Centricity PACS.
    • Height adjustable desks and Herman-Miller Aeron chairs for an optimal ergonomic working environment.
    • Single keyboard and mouse sharing between PACS and support displays.
