- 1 Block - OB/GYN

Highlights
The Intro to EM month allows for an easy transition into residency and sets you up for success working in the Emergency Department and hospital. It includes EM-specific education, as well as introductions to the EMR, Bedside Ultrasound, Procedures, Vascular Access, Simulation, and the inner workings of the ED.
Second Year
Goal: Emergency Medicine Senior
- 7.5 Blocks - Emergency Medicine
- 1 Block Freestanding ED
- 1 Block – Emergency Medicine/Ultrasound
- 1 Block – Pediatric Emergency Medicine
- 1 Block - Surgical Intensive Care Unit
- 1 Block - Trauma (Shock)
Highlights
Our residents get to do three excellent out-rotations in the second year, including experience at a free-standing Emergency Department in Brighton, Shock Trauma in Baltimore, and the Surgical ICU in Ann Arbor.
As PGY2s, our residents are now senior residents in the ED and grow so much as physicians in this year. They are learning to run resuscitations, increase efficiency and workflow, and begin to teach junior learners, as well.
Third Year
Goal: Firm Grasp of Emergency Medicine
- 6.5 Block - Emergency Medicine
- 1 Block – Administration/Elective
- 1 Block – Emergency Medicine Selective/Teaching
- 1 Block – Emergency Medicine/Toxicology
- 1 Block - Medical Intensive Care Unit/Surgical Intensive Care Unit
- 1 Block – Pediatric Emergency Medicine
- 1 Block – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
Highlights
In PGY3, our residents are getting to refine their EM knowledge and learning how to manage the ED in all scenarios. They are getting to explore different subsets of Emergency Medicine, including admin, teaching, urgent care, critical care, and/or ultrasound. They are leaders in the Department and amongst their fellow residents and are prepping for independent practice.
