Aortic Ultrasound

A woman and her grandmother stroll happily through a park

Trinity Health Michigan performs aortic ultrasound as a diagnostic method for vascular issues.

What is an Aortic Ultrasound?

An aortic ultrasound is a non-invasive, painless test that uses sound waves to create a picture of the aorta, the heart's largest blood vessel. The aorta is the main blood vessel that supplies blood to the body's abdomen, pelvis and legs. Aortic ultrasound is used to detect and monitor abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). If left untreated, AAA can be life-threatening.
