St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea to award $8,000 in scholarships to four applicants interested in pursuing health care career

CHELSEA, Mich. (Feb. 27, 2019) – St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea's Auxiliary Office, the Volunteer Department within the hospital, announced that it will offer scholarships of $2,000 each to four qualified high school seniors or adult students pursuing a career in health care. The application deadline for these annually awarded scholarships is Wednesday, May 1.
To qualify, applicants must enroll full-time in a health career program for which certification is given or a degree is granted. Applicants must either be a resident of Chelsea, Manchester, Dexter, Pinckney, Grass Lake, Stockbridge, or Gregory or an employee or volunteer of St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea. Scholarship awards are based on academic achievement, community involvement, and a sincere interest in higher education in the field of health care.
Applications can be submitted online or picked up at the hospital's Information Desk, located inside the main entrance of St. Joe's. The information desk is staffed from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Applications can also be mailed upon request.

The Auxiliary has over 150 members that come together to volunteer their services inside St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea. It donates over 20,000 hours each year and thousands of dollars to the hospital.
