Didactics

  • OB/GYN Lectures: Held daily and coordinated by a third-year resident and/or the program director. Given by various OB/GYN residents. Topic include ACOG Practice Bulletins, Committee Opinions, etc.
  • Bi-weekly 4-hour didactics which include the following:
    • Grand Rounds
    • Journal Club
    • Board Review
    • Pre-Op Conference
    • MM&I
  • SCS Monthly Meetings: Each resident is required to attend monthly meetings held at Michigan State University Statewide Campus System. (virtual or in person)
  • OB//GYN Section Meeting: The OB/GYN Section meetings are held 9 months out of the year
  • Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinics: These are held two Fridays of the month at the residency clinic and are conducted by Board Certified Perinatologists
  • Multiple courses offered by Michigan State University Statewide Campus System for different PGY levels (fe 2-day US course for interns;1-day colposcopy course for PGY 2 residents; 1-day senior workshop for PGY 3 residents; 1-week board review course for senior residents)
  • OB/GYN Basic Science Snippets offered by the Michigan State University Statewide Campus System
  • FLS training and certification
  • Core Cases: Web-based modules developed in conjunction with the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (ACOG) to advance education and training for OB/GYN residents
  • AMA Competency Education Modules: Series of online educational modules designed to complement teachings in residency
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification: each resident will be EFM certified within first 6 months of residency

Research

Each fourth-year resident shall complete and present a research project prior to graduation from residency training. The research project shall be presented according to the guidelines as outlined in the ACOOG Postgraduate Training Program Administrative Manual.

Support

Scholarly activity support is offered to residents, fellows, faculty attendings and GME staff to help them achieve scholarly activity requirements set forth by the ACGME and Residency Review Committees, as well as other program and institutional guidelines.

Amos Health Sciences Library at Trinity Health Muskegon aims to provide the information you need, wherever and whenever you need it.

Our library facilities provide 24-hour access to books, computers, and study space to supplement our growing collection of Internet-based texts, journals, and multimedia. Smartphone and tablet apps are available for many of our resources, such as UpToDate, VisualDx, and ClinicalKey. Prompt assistance with research and article delivery is provided by our professional librarian.
