Rotation Schedule and Benefits
The transitional year program schedule is designed to meet ACGME requirements and adapt to each resident. As part of Trinity Health, we partner with the Trinity Health Medical Group for resident education, inpatient, and ambulatory experiences. Our sponsoring program is Internal Medicine. Residents are treated equal to PGY1 categorical residents on all rotations.
Transitional Year Rotations:
- Fundamental Clinical Skills Rotation: 6 blocks
- Inpatient Medicine - 2 blocks
- Emergency Medicine – 1.5 blocks
- Ambulatory Medicine - 1 block
- MICU - 1 block
- General Surgery – 0.5 blocks
- Night Float - 1 block
- Electives - 6 blocks
- Includes 2 weeks of Ultrasound
- Vacation - 1 block
Typical Daily Inpatient Experience:
7:00 AM - 7:30 AM Sign in/out
8:00 AM - 12:00 PM Rounds, Multidisciplinary Meetings
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Catered didactics Mon/Tues/Thurs
1:00 PM - 5:00 PM New admissions as needed
4:30 PM - 5:00 PM Sign in/out
The EMR is Epic. Residents have access to online resources such as UpToDate. Rotations may involve medical students. We are a base hospital for Michigan State University COM and Wayne State University SOM.
