PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency

Only graduates from ACPE-accredited pharmacy programs, who have completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Practice residency, and are eligible for Michigan licensure may apply to the residency program. Foreign pharmacy graduates, who also meet these criteria, may apply to the residency program after successfully passing TOEFL and FPGEE, and if licensed to practice pharmacy in the United States.

Applicants must submit the following materials by the first Friday in January for the application year:

  1. Transcript from college of pharmacy
  2. Curriculum vitae
  3. Letter of intent/cover letter
  4. Three letters of recommendation

Trinity Health Grand Rapids will accept all applications through the Pharmacy Online Residency Application Service (PhORCAS). Further details are available at the PhORCAS section of the ASHP website (www.ashp.org/phorcas). Do not send application materials via mail or e-mail them to the residency program director (RPD).

The PhORCAS system provides a standard resident recommendation template that is requested as part of the application. This template needs to be completed by those from whom a reference is requested; a separate letter of recommendation in addition to the standard PhORCAS reference is NOT required as part of the application to Mercy Health Saint Mary’s.

Final candidates must participate in an interview. Most interviews are scheduled in late January or early February. During the approximately six-hour interview, the candidate will meet separately with the RPD, director of pharmacy, inpatient manager and groups of preceptors (including current residents).

Trinity Health Grand Rapids' residency program participates in and follows all the rules for the ASHP National Matching Program (find rules at www.natmatch.com/ashprmp). As such, this residency site agrees that no person at this site will solicit, accept or use any ranking-related information (implied or stated) from any residency applicant. All applicants must also be participants in the national matching program and abide by its rules.
