PGY2 Critical Care Residency Program
Overview
Trinity Health Ann Arbor (THAA) is a 548-bed teaching hospital located in Ann Arbor, MI. THAA is a verified Level I Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center, certified by the Joint commission and nationally recognized for quality and excellence in caring for stroke patients by the American Heart and American Stroke Association.
The Department of Pharmacy Services at THAA offers a one-year PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency program. Led by highly qualified preceptors within an interdisciplinary teaching hospital, this program provides the resident with opportunities to advance in all areas of critical care pharmacy practice. Upon completion of the program, the resident will be capable to take on several clinical roles and be well equipped and eligible for attainment of board certification. The resident will train with healthcare professionals from multiple disciplinaries and serve as the primary pharmacy contact within the assigned department.
PGY2 Purpose
The PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency program will build on the PGY1 residency program foundation and challenge the resident to take on independent roles within critical care settings. The resident will be able to integrate accumulated experiences and knowledge to further advance in pharmacy practice. The resident will acquire diverse experiences which includes rounding within multiple units of the hospital, participating in code blue coverage, ongoing research involvement, committee participation (e.g., stroke, organ donation, critical care, code blue), and teaching/precepting experiences.
The PGY2 pharmacy residency program will prepare the resident for job opportunities in the following areas:
- Critical Care Pharmacist in hospital setting
- Clinical Pharmacy Specialist
- Non-Tenure Track College of Pharmacy Faculty
