Fellows can expect to be involved in hands-on teaching of our Internal Medicine rotators during the inpatient consult months as well as days that residents are assigned to the Addiction Medicine clinic as part of their ambulatory clinic experience. Fellows have one afternoon of continuity clinic for the entirety of the fellowship year.

Fellows receive 4 weeks of vacation time during the academic year to be taken in 1-week increments (on special occasions requests for 2-week blocks will be considered and are dependent on final approval by the Program Director). Further benefit and salary information can be found here.

Didactics

The program hosts weekly didactic educational conferences on Friday afternoons. These sessions follow the ASAM Principles to ensure addiction practice competence. Typically these are led by the fellow and Program Director, with participation from other faculty members. Occasionally outside experts are scheduled to give talks as well.

Research

The program offers and encourages the fellow to participate in at least one research project. The fellow is expected to present their project, at minimum, at the Trinity Health Ann Arbor Annual Research Forum held each spring. The Internal Medicine Research Director is available to offer technical and practical advice in the design process of a research project.

Conferences

The fellow is encouraged to attend the American Society of Addiction Medicine national conference. We are able to provide funding for travel and registration separate from yearly educational stipends. In addition, there may be other local-area conferences that the fellow may attend depending on availability.
