National Recognition for Surgical Excellence

Trinity Health Michigan brings the best available surgical care close to home. Our surgeons deliver high-quality care that meets or exceeds national standards. These efforts lead to safe procedures and extremely low complication rates.

We maintain recognition for excellence in:

Arthroscopic Surgery (Arthroscopy)

Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive technique for diagnosing and treating a broad range of orthopedic conditions. It uses a thin tube (arthroscope) with a light and camera. We pass the arthroscope through a small skin puncture. The camera provides real-time imaging, and instruments at the tip help us carry out the procedure.

Conditions we diagnose and treat with arthroscopic surgery include:

  • Arthritis
  • Bursitis
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Dislocated shoulder
  • Ganglion cyst
  • Inflamed tissue (synovitis)
  • Ligament, tendon, and cartilage tears
  • Loose bone or cartilage fragments
  • Shoulder impingement
  • Tennis elbow

Surgery

Open surgery may be necessary for more complex procedures or to treat delicate areas, such as your hands, spine, and feet. This technique uses larger incisions to access the treatment area. It also helps us treat conditions affecting tissue inside the joint.

Orthopedic surgical treatments include:

  • Foot surgery to repair malformations that cause pain or make walking difficult
  • Fracture care, setting broken bones or fixing bones that did not heal as expected
  • Hand and wrist surgery
  • Hip resurfacing to remove diseased cartilage and enable smoother joint movement
  • Knee surgery to repair torn ligaments
  • Joint replacement
  • Nerve repair, removing damaged tissue and implanting a section of healthy tissue from another area of the body
  • Ruptured tendon or muscle repair
  • Shoulder surgery to repair frozen shoulder or a torn rotator cuff
  • Spine surgery to treat spinal disorders or relieve chronic back pain
  • Sports injury care, including Tommy John surgery to treat elbow injuries
