Took 45 minutes on hold calling your call center to find out the answer. The time frame should be listed on the MyChart information page. big waste of hospital resources answering my phone call

This doctor spent more time, listened, gave suggestions, ordered bloodwork, ordered prescriptions, and demonstrated exercises I should do[....] He was so kind and very attentive-quick to try to research or resolve my issues that I have had going on for 3 years with this practice. He is not my doctor, but I needed a prescription renewed before the next available date with my regular doctor. I was extremely impressed how much he took care of for me!! I left the appt., feeling grateful. I thanked him several times.

I have been a patient with *Dr. Den Houter for over 20 yrs. He has always been very caring. Listens to you. Answers all questions - takes time with you, never rushes.

Excellent. I have been going to Dr. DenHouter for twenty some years and his father for twenty years before that.
Dr. Den Houter is always friendly, thorough in his examinations, communicative, and interested in your well being. Four years ago, if it wasn't for him I would not be completing this survey today. He saved my life. By evaluating my symptoms and reviewing my test results he Identified that I had severe coronary heart disease. He made the appropriate referrals and continued to follow up by reviewing the notes made into my chart by the cardiologist. After completing a nuclear stress test a more evasive procedure was indicated (Angiogram) but was delayed due to my cardiologist being out on vacation, Dr. Den Houter read the results the same day of the test, called me that evening at home and prescribed nitroglycerin patches to ease my symptoms until we could get Michigan Heart to have another cardiologist complete the evaluation. The final result was me having to undergo emergency quintuple bypass heart surgery.
First time seeing Dr. Den Houter. He was very thorough and courteous and professional. Dr. Den Houter's Father was my doctor as a child!

I have been receiving services from Dr. Den Houter for more than 15 years and believe he is the best medical doctor I have had in my 80 years on earth. Though I prefer later morning appointments, I also know that this will mean a high likelihood of tardiness for him to get to me. I would have preferred to not spend 1.5 hours at the medical center to receive a 20 minute appointment, but that is often reality when so many are scheduled prior to me.

During the last two years, visits to my physician appear to be RUSHED, as if someone is clocking him on the time he is allowed to spend with me. I don't like that one bit. This has not always been the case. This leads me to believe that IHA is more concerned with churning patients rather than providing the necessary time needed to for consultation and IHA may be operating under a formula as to how much time a physician is allowed with any patient. I noticed this especially during my annual physicals.

I have been a patient of Dr DenHouter's for over 32 years. He is also the PCP for my husband, my mom, and my two sons. Dr. DenHouter is always professional, kind, and takes the time to answer any questions that I have. I never feel rushed at a visit and he has called me in the evening to address a question or medical concern regarding myself or my mother. My husband was recently diagnosed with renal cancer. Thanks to Dr DenHouter's prompt visit and follow up, the cancer was caught early. He had blood in his urine and was able to get an appointment with Dr DenHouter the next day. Labs and urine tests were ordered with a referral to the urologist. The cancer is high grade but is small and contained. He is pursuing treatment at this time. I was recently with my mom at an appointment with Dr DenHouter. She was very distraught over the no fault auto reform which required her to change to a new attendant care agency. She was with this agency and primary care giver for over two years. Dr DenHouter took the time to listen to her, was empathetic, and wrote a letter to the agency and insurance company on her behalf. My youngest son moved to Grand Rapids two years ago and continues to see Dr. DenHouter instead of finding a new PCP closer to him. I have been a nurse at St. Joe's for over 32 years and Dr. DenHouter is one of the most compassionate and caring physicians that I have met. I am grateful for the great care that he provides to me and my family. Thank you!

Dr Den Houter does an excellent job! He doesn't spend most of his time on his computer. He listens to me. He answers all my questions. He doesn't try to rush through the appointment. He actually examines me! What a difference from todays family physicians. unfortunately most of today's general physicians spend most of your appointment time typing on their computers Dr. Den Houter is probably harassed by management because he spends too much time with each patient. if so, how sad!!!! Myself and my friends have become very disappointed in today's general physicians because of all the computer time spent!! High praise for Dr. den Houter!
