Tamika Martin, MD, is board-certified in obstetrics & gynecology. Dr. Martin earned her medical degree from Wayne State University’s School of Medicine and completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Henry Ford Hospital. As a doctor myself and a woman of color, I felt that her approach was rushed and after warning that I'm on my period, I would have expected her to reassure me her comfort by telling me it's okay. I too was worried about her comfort level. Before either myself or my patients walk out the door, I ask, "What questions do you have". Dr. Martin should do that instead of rushing out the door telling me if I wasn't getting the pap smear, the visit it done and she would void out the visit. Her attitude was palpable. People may not remember what you said, but they will remember how you made them feel and my interaction with Dr. Martin was honestly disappointing and I did not feel empowered in her presence. I won't be coming back.
