Hira R. Amarasinghe, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician. She earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and her Bachelor of Science in neuroscience from the University of Michigan. Dr. Amarasinghe completed her pediatrics and communicable diseases residency at Michigan Medicine C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor. She has clinical interests in newborn care, postpartum mental health, adolescent medicine, and safety and injury prevention. Dr. Amarasinghe is fluent in Urdu and Punjabi.

I was thrilled to see a pediatrician for our 1 year visit - it was suppose to be an NP, which I really do not have an issue with, but the one year well visit feels like a monumental one and would have preferred to see my normal pediatrician and not have this appointment be with someone new, despite the great experience.

Dr. Amarasinghe is wonderful! She was exceptionally great with my anxious toddler and took the time to fully understand my concerns and ensure I was comfortable and knew what the action plan was before leaving. Would happily see Dr. Amarasinghe again!
