Trinity Health Michigan’s Northern Network Expands Services & Access to Care
November 13, 2024SHELBY, Mich. (November 13, 2024) – Trinity Health Michigan is investing in services for patients in its Northern Network, consisting of Oceana and Mason Counties and the Whitehall area. At Trinity Health Shelby and Trinity Health Medical Group – Primary Care in Shelby, Hart, Ludington, and Whitehall, the Northern Network provides patients with care closer to home, keeping services within the Trinity Health Michigan network for continuity of comprehensive care.
Trinity Health Northern Network practices provide family medicine, behavioral health services, pharmacy, care management, and general medicine. Specialty services in Shelby include sleep medicine, urology, and obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN). Beginning November 13, Trinity Health Medical Group in Shelby will offer routine and high-risk prenatal care, gynecologic issues care, annual exams, breast health, reproductive health, and minor procedures. This brings greater convenience for current patients and more options for potential patients.
“We’re committed to expanding access to care for all patient populations, not just those in our larger communities,” said John Foss, PA-C, MBA, senior vice president of operations for Trinity Health Muskegon, Shelby & Grand Haven. “Our lakeshore hospitals are the foundation of a vast network that connects our patients with highly specialized providers and care for whatever they need. By making these services and providers available to them, we hope to mitigate access barriers.”
Nearly 20% of Michigan’s population lives in rural areas, leading to a direct need for expanded access and specialty care for those who must travel further and make special accommodations. Trinity Health’s Northern Network brings these necessary services and providers directly to areas where patients need them.
“Our northern patients need to travel for baby delivery, so we want to ensure pre- and post-natal care are accessible within their community. The excellent OB/GYN providers in Muskegon are some of the same who also provide care in Shelby and surrounding areas,” said Foss.
Adding OB/GYN services follows the addition of Trinity Health Medical Group West Michigan Sleep Medicine. “We’re proud to integrate Trinity Health within this community further and accommodate patients with general and specialized needs,” said Connie Gnegy, director of quality and utilization at Trinity Health Medical Group.
Several urgent cares are also located within the Trinity Health Northern Network, including Ludington and Whitehall. Both locations utilize the “Save My Spot” feature which allows patients to schedule appointments at a convenient time, especially during cold and flu season.
Trinity Health Michigan is continually assessing community needs to support Northern Network patients. For more information, visit Trinity Health Medical Group, Primary Care – Shelby, or find a location near you.
