Preparing for Your Baby

Trinity Health Birth Center – Livonia Hospital

This is the beginning of a miraculous journey as you prepare for the birth of your baby.

Our Pathways to Motherhood guide is designed to help you prepare for your baby and your new role as parents. This guide provides you with information from early pregnancy through the first few weeks home with your baby. It is set up to follow along with you as you go through your prenatal appointments, routine tests, labor, delivery, feeding your baby and much more, all the way to your baby’s care with their own doctor.

It is a good idea to have all those who will care for you and your baby to review this information as well. If you cannot find what you need in this guide, please ask your doctor or baby’s doctor for additional information.

Their services include care and support during labor and delivery, women’s health and pregnancy education, routine annual exams and assistance in family planning and prescription.

Birth & Baby Care Plans

Birth Plans are a popular method for expressing your vision of your ideal birth. Preparing a birth plan ensures you and your care team can work together to create the birth experience you desire. We all share the main goal of having a healthy mom and baby. We encourage you to discuss your wishes with your provider at your (34 - 36 week) prenatal visit.

Choose a Provider for Mom and Baby

Whether you’re expecting your first baby, or you already have children, choosing a physician for your child is an important decision. The following are some tips to help you make your decision. If you’re pregnant, plan to choose your baby physician at least four to six weeks before your due date.

Schedule a Birth Center Tour

Part of being prepared for baby is feeling comfortable with where to go and what to expect when it's time to give birth. We recommend scheduling a Family Birth Center tour so you and your support team can walk you through what to expect when your baby is ready to arrive.

Due to COVID19 in-person tours are not available at this time.
