The Chelsea Hospital Inpatient Rehabilitation team offers a comprehensive program to help individuals navigate their injury or illness and regain independence and function. As a collaborative program between University of Michigan Health and Chelsea Hospital, you’ll receive the best inpatient rehabilitation committed to maximizing your health, function and quality of life.
Our 40-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation program is supported by our joint venture with University of Michigan Health. Inpatient Rehabilitation is for individuals recovering from stroke, brain injury, neurological disorders, organ transplant, amputation, major trauma, cancer, spinal cord injury or complicated medical conditions who also have rehab needs.
The Inpatient Rehab program includes:
- Intensive specialized therapy services including occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech language pathology
- A spacious rehabilitation gym where the team works together with the patient and their family to meet milestones necessary to safely return to the community
- Daily medical supervision by a team of physicians specialized in rehabilitation
- A hospital nationally recognized for quality of care and patient satisfaction
- A low nurse-to-patient ratio with specialized rehabilitation nurses focusing on comprehensive care 24-hours a day

Directions and Parking
Patients and visitors should park in our main parking lot and enter through the Main Entrance. If you are visiting a patient in an Inpatient Rehab patient room, you will either go to Atrium West or Courtyard West.
Atrium West:
Take the elevator directly inside the Main Entrance to the second floor. Atrium West patient rooms are then straight ahead when you exit the elevator.
Courtyard West:
Proceed past the desk and coffee shop inside the Main Entrance. Follow the hall to the right as it curves around the Courtyard. When you reach an intersection at the Chapel, turn left to reach Courtyard West patient rooms.
