What we do
Endoscopy procedures are performed with monitored anesthesia care (MAC), which involves the insertion of a flexible lighted scope that provides the physician with a close-up view inside the colon, esophagus, or stomach. Instruments can be inserted through the scope to take tissue samples for testing or treat internal bleeding. This unique view can help determine the cause of problems such as pain, rectal bleeding, and heartburn. In addition, endoscopy is an invaluable screening tool for cancer.
Procedures performed are Colonoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy and Gastroscopy. Colorectal cancer is very treatable when discovered in the early stages. Colonoscopy is the most accurate method for detecting colorectal cancer and polyps. A sigmoidoscopy is a similar procedure, but it is used to inspect only the rectum and sigmoid colon. Gastroscopy is an endoscopic method for examining the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum.
Endoscopy Inpatient
Inpatients requiring endoscopy procedures will be performed in the surgery center of the hospital.

Directions and Parking
We are located on the second floor, Suite 202, of the Professional Building located on St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Campus (see map below). St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea's Professional Building is located just south of downtown Chelsea.
Take the M52 Exit off I-94 (exit 159) and go north towards Chelsea, continue on M52 for approximately one mile and turn right (east) onto US12. Proceed approximately 100 yards to St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea south campus entrance. Turn left. Follow the signs to the Professional Building, 14650 East Old US 12. It will be the first right turn after the Huron Valley Ambulance Building. Proceed to the parking lot and enter through the front entrance of the building. Registration is on the second floor to the right, Suite 202.
