Sports Physical Therapy Residency
Overview
Our full-time residency program offers evidence-based post-graduate education specializing in sports physical therapy and athletic development. Our clinicians practice within a health and wellness team serving our community sport population of 3 public high schools and two colleges. You will be placed at one of our Livonia training facilities. The program is 12 months long starting the second week in January.
Mission
We TrinityElite, with the support of Trinity Health, are committed to serve as a destination for physical therapists seeking guidance to initiate advanced skill training in sports physical therapy, providing excellent, evidence based education, with continuous improvement efforts and strategies designed to enhance patient care of the athletic and sport population throughout the lifespan.
Accreditation
TrinityElite Sports Residency program is currently in candidacy seeking to be accredited in early 2024 by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE) council of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
Goals
Goal 1: Demonstrate specialist level clinical reasoning and knowledge
Goal 2: Provide excellent, evidence-guided patient care
Goal 3: Consistently acquire, interpret, integrate and share best evidence in sports PT
Goal 4: Demonstrate specialist level decision making and psychomotor skill in acute injury and emergency management
Goal 5: Add value to the sponsoring organization, and demonstrate professionalism in communication, instruction, and collaboration
Goal 6: Contribute to the body of sport physical therapy knowledge
Goal 7: Prepared to sit for and pass the ABPTS Sports Certified Specialist Exam
Graduates
We have placed our first resident who is preparing to sit for the Sports Certified Specialist exam in March 2024. Passing rate for graduates that sit for the SCS exam will be placed here. Graduates of the program with credentials and current place of employment and areas of interest will be listed under the Program Graduates.
Application Deadline: September 13th
Program Start Date: 2nd Monday in January
Completion Rate
The completion rate will be listed here once our first resident completes the program.
