For many people, cuts or sores naturally heal within a short period of time. However, for people with underlying medical conditions such as diabetes, obesity or an impaired immune system, wounds often fail to heal properly on their own, leading to extended hospital stays, high health care costs or potentially dangerous medical complications. Trinity Health Wound Care is dedicated to healing wounds, preventing limb loss and creating the best outcomes for patients.

“When the body is unable to heal on its own, specialized wound care is essential to avoiding serious long-term complications,” said Josie Franks, CMA, AAS, program director at Trinity Health Wound Care – Oakland Hospital. “A wound center has the trained personnel, experience and resources to support the body’s healing process, limit health complications and speed recovery.”

Trinity Health Michigan’s wound care team follows a multidisciplinary approach to wound care, using traditional and advanced therapies to aid and accelerate the healing process. For patients, that means longer-lasting results, decreased amputation rates and increased mobility.

Patients can access care for many conditions, including burns, ulcers, infected wounds, post-radiation injuries and much more. After evaluating a patient’s medical history and symptoms, the center’s team of clinicians develops a personalized treatment plan which may include:

  • Diagnostic testing
  • Nutritional evaluation
  • Infection control
  • Specialized dressings
  • Pressure-relieving devices
  • Debridement
  • Ongoing patient education
  • Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO2) therapy

If you’re concerned about a wound that won’t heal, our experts are here to support you. A referral is not required, unless required by your insurance. Services offered at Trinity Health Wound Care Centers may vary slightly. Find a center near you!
