General Neurology: This program provides a streamlined, interdisciplinary model with on-site board-certified neurologists. This team covers both inpatient and outpatient. All neurology symptoms are evaluated and treated or triaged as appropriate to neuro-subspecialists such as our fellowship-trained electrophysiologists, movement disorder specialists, sleep medicine specialists, neuro-ophthalmologists and vascular neurologists. Additionally, comprehensive neurodiagnostic studies are performed on both children and adults to confirm diagnoses.

Alzheimer's and Memory Disorders: As West Michigan’s first and most experienced Alzheimer’s disease and memory disorders program, our goals are to accurately diagnose and manage all patient and caregiver needs related to memory disorders or dementia. Our unique patient/caregiver centered approach to care involves a specialized team that includes a physician, medical social worker, nurse practitioner, neuropsychologist and pharmacist.

Headache: This program provides a streamlined, interdisciplinary care model with board certified neurologists, physical therapists, social work services and registered nurses. Headache, migraine, facial pain and neck-related headache disorders are managed with a detailed medical history, diagnostic evaluation and an individualized treatment strategy. This patient-centered approach aims to return patients to normal daily activities and improve quality of life.

Movement Disorders and Parkinson's: For more than a decade, our Movement Disorders and Parkinson’s program has been delivering comprehensive cutting-edge care. Our program is a research partner of the Van Andel Research Institute and Michigan State University. We offer expert medical care for movement disorders and surgical insertion and programming of deep brain stimulation (DBS).

Multiple Sclerosis: This is the only comprehensive program in West Michigan to be certified as Partners in MS Care by the National MS Society. The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Program at Trinity Health Michigan is committed to providing the highest level of diagnosis and long-term care for individuals with MS. Our patients, families and other caregivers work collaboratively alongside an inter-disciplinary team of physicians, nurses, social workers, and occupational and physical therapists. Together, we develop plans and treatments that help patients manage their conditions effectively and lead active, productive lives. Our integrated approach also includes participation in research trials.

Neuromuscular (ALS and MD): Originally established through a collaboration with Michigan State University and Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, Trinity Health Hauenstein Neurosciences is home to the first nationally certified ALS program in West Michigan. Additionally, Hauenstein is home to an MDA clinic geared toward patients with nerve, muscle and neuromuscular junction disease. Our multidisciplinary team is comprised of physicians, nurses, social workers, physiatrists, pulmonologists, neuropsychologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, dietitians, respiratory therapists, adaptive technology therapists, and wheelchair and mobility specialists. This integrated approach includes participation in research trials.

Neuro-Palliative and Supportive Care: We recognize the obstacles that our patients suffering with neurological and neurodegenerative diseases face. In our Neuro-Palliative & Supportive Care Clinic, we focus on aggressive symptom management, creating a roadmap for care, anticipating difficult decisions and supporting caregivers. Our team — consisting of a neurologist with specialized training in palliative care, social work, nursing and other ancillary services — works together to treat the whole individual.

Neuropsychology: Comprehensive adult and geriatric cognitive and psychological assessments to assist with accurate diagnosis and effective treatment planning.

Stroke and Neurocritical care: Designated as a Comprehensive Stroke Center by DNV GL Healthcare, the Trinity Health Stroke Program houses state-of-the-art diagnostic technologies, fellowship-trained vascular neurologists, a neurointerventionist, a dedicated stroke unit, and an inter-disciplinary approach to stroke care that emphasizes speed and efficiency of care.
